Hauora Hues of Green

Hauora

How does cannabis find its place within Hauora, a Māori philosophy of health and well-being unique to New Zealand?

Cannabis can contribute its body in such ways to create products that align with our beliefs and can assist in creating balance surrounding the four dimensions of Hauora.

  • Taha Tinana (Physical Well-being – health)
  • Taha Hinengaro (Mental and Emotional well-being – self-confidence)
  • Taha Whanau (Social Well-being – self-esteem)
  • Taha Wairua (Spiritual well-being – personal beliefs)

There are physical, emotional/mental, social, and spiritual caring.

Taha Tinana (Physical Well-being – health)

We wish to use our knowledge of the many varieties and compositions of the cannabis plant to empower people’s physical well-being. Through research and personal experience, we understand the benefits of supplementing cannabis to assist our bodies when it isn’t performing at 100% or as a preventative approach in maintaining our physical well being or Taha Tinana. Our goal as a collective is to share these methodologies with the wider community to further provide insight by creating more self awareness of one’s physical being so that you are able to take steps to prevent, maintain and rehabilitate any physical conditions that may arise through life’s journey.

Taha Hinengaro (Mental and Emotional well-being – self-confidence)

Mental and emotional well-being can be achieved a million different ways depending on the individual. How Hues of Green sees this being incorporated into the way we do things is to lift all who participate or contribute and empower one another to keep the snowball effect of confidence flowing. How can cannabis as a plant help? Some people use cannabis as a social lubricant while others use it in their downtime. Hues of Green sees it as a way for people to understand themselves more thoroughly through introspective reasoning. When we are willing to take an honest look at ourselves we tend to learn more about the way we operate, this in turn helps us have more confidence in who we are and what we stand for. Taha Hinengaro to Hues of Green is achieved through introspection and internal growth.

Taha Whanau (Social Well-being – self-esteem)

Community is a large part of the reason we do what we do at Hues of Green. Humanity throughout its existence has shared many moments of thought and discovery through the ritual of cannabis. The ancients saw it as a way to connect with the gods. We aim to share knowledge, share experiences, and share the good message of the many benefits of the cannabis plant to our community. Whether helping a loved one deal with chronic pain, sharing studies about the positive effects of CBD oil, or simply sharing a joint and engaging in open dialogue there is a strong sense of Taha Whanau in everything we strive to achieve. Most of our introductions to the cannabis plant will have been in a social situation surrounded by friends or family, this is a tradition thousands of years old and we certainly won’t be the ones to try and change that.

Taha Wairua (Spiritual well-being – personal beliefs)

Here at Hues of Green, we understand that it takes all types of people to make up this wonderful society that we live in. To that end, we openly accept all people and all beliefs as for us spiritual well being and personal beliefs are just that, personal. Even amongst the founders of Hues of Green we can’t all agree on our definitions of spirituality but we would never let that get in the way of achieving our common goal. Finding one’s beliefs and moral code is something we value highly at Hues of Green. Forming one’s identity does not happen without highs and lows. Cannabis has an intriguing way of filtering out a lot of the noise in life and opens our minds and souls to some of its vulnerabilities. It may be positive, it may be negative. Working through these moments is acknowledging to yourself your Taha Wairua. This will help you understand yourself better, create stronger bonds with people, and live a better quality of life. We understand that being so open in our belief of the cannabis plant will draw some criticism but if we let that stop us we would not be fulfilling our obligations to achieve Taha Wairua.

Using the philosophy of Hauora as our framework for curating a better life lived, we here hues of green wish to create a collaborative space for you to stay in touch and follow some of those feelings. Feelings of curiosity, excitement, of what could change.

You are here because you believe in change. Change for a better feeling, change for a better life, change in you.

Cannabis is not for everyone, but with its many Hues of Green, it has properties and love from the same earth that we came from. These properties could aid in giving you or someone you care about a better quality of life. As have done by the ancients, this crop has assisted us in our best and worst moments. Love and war. That life does not need to be broken, to begin with. It begins with understanding one thing better, you. This is about you, by someone like you, for you. So let’s share in a better understanding of cannabis by creating awareness of ourselves, first through Hauora to see how we may want this plant to apply to us.
